what we do?
At CBGA, we strive to promote support for our country.
It is a way for Guineans from the Basse-Guinée region living abroad to stay connected to their homeland and contribute to its development.
It serves as a voice for the diaspora in Guinean sociopolitical discussions, particularly regarding governance, rights, justice, and the conditions of Guinean citizens.
It also enables collective mobilization—financial, social, and political—for solidarity initiatives or infrastructure projects in Basse-Guinée.
History of the Coordination of Basse Guinea in America
The advent of the Coordination of Basse Guinea in America is the result of the combined efforts of the worthy sons of this community, who finally realized the need to defend their heritage and make this community a vanguard community.
Proud of the legacy left by their predecessors and eager to restore the cultural, social, and economic values that have always characterized this dynamic and hospitable community, the clear desire of these sons was, on the one hand, to bring together the sons of Basse Guinea under one roof in order to strengthen the centuries-old bonds of fraternity, conviviality, solidarity, and shared development, while resolutely striving for a better tomorrow for all its sons.
It was in this capacity that the foundations of this coordination were laid through the first convention in Philadelphia. The 2010 Philadelphia Convention will undoubtedly serve as a focal point insofar as it helped recapture the imagination of the Basse-Guineka people toward the reunification essential to their survival and, above all, to their harmonious development, in order to fulfill their role as the driving force of Guinea’s communities.
The Philadelphia Convention also enabled the selection of New York’s candidacy for the organization of the second convention to continue and consolidate the achievements and provide this coordination with a solid foundation for the future.
However, it must be recognized that any struggle for social development involves a specific element. It is for this reason that this coordination, beyond its primary dimension of reuniting its members, finds itself faced with a legitimate duty characterizing its secondary dimension, the noble one of reconciliation among the members of Guinea.
These efforts will be undertaken very quickly following the deleterious situation created by the 2010 presidential election, in order to avoid chaos in our country, which would be to no one’s advantage. It goes without saying that this convincing and encouraging result of this Basse Guinea coordination, which aims to be apolitical and emerged from the New York Convention, is the result of a strategy of raising awareness, educating, and informing the population through the establishment and integration of dynamic associations claiming to be an integral part of the greater Basse Guinea family.
The establishment of these associations across the Americas is achieved thanks to extensive media coverage of the efforts of the associative structures that are the foundation of this coordination and its members, who have demonstrated spontaneity, commitment, and clear solidarity.
Today, this collective commitment paves the way for national hope for the revival of social dialogue in Guinea between all components of Guinean society. Now that this coordination of Basse Guinea of America has defined a new approach and arouses limitless hope throughout the Guinean community, it has the duty to carry out this mission for the happiness of the populations of Basse Guinea in particular and of Guinea in general.
